Note: In the Pigeon Wing, the dancers' feet imitate the fluttering of pigeon wings. A similar dance, Wire Gal is something like the cakewalk, which the girls could do it with containers of water on their heads. Jones quoted in Step It Down: "The Pigeon Wing was just a dance my grandfather did and I never did learn it. It was just a dance he did with no song to it. … Boy, that was pretty in those long dresses; and there was some way of doing it with their feet up and around."
