Note: From "Step It Down": Old Bill was a "patteroller," an armed guard that patrolled the roads at night, enforcing the pass system that required African Americans to show a pass when they wanted to leave their plantations during slavery. This song was made to make fun of Old Bill, who had big eyes and a double chin like Mister Frog, whose courting song the chorus recalls.
