Extended interview with Wilfred Redhead and Sugar Adams. Discussion centers on the concept of unity in the small community of Carriacou, which is divided by different groups of individuals aligned with different mythic African “nations” (e.g., Cromanti, etc.). Alan Lomax is interested in how inherited “differences” are reconciled and negotiated in the present, and the local (oral) histories that document this relationship. At one point in the interview, Sugar Adams sings a “slave song” called Plewé Mwê, Lidé.
