Note: Harcourt was the captain of a boat called the Reliance. He went to the logger hole with a man called Rawlings. They caught a loggerhead and the boat sank. Harcourt went down with the boat and never came up. When Harcourt's wife found out about his death, she called her son, and they brought Harcourt home and laid him on the floor until his body became cold. Then they bathed him and dressed him. Alan asks what happens when a man dies – Mackenze provides an interesting description of Bahamian funerary rituals.
