Recordings of the local variant of ahwash music and dance from the Sous region. The Sous, a fertile area with its own distinct brand of Amazigh culture, is a Tachelhit-speaking region comprising the Sous river valley and flood plain in Southwestern Morocco, including the cities of Agadir, Inezgane and Taroudant. This performance was given in Fes, in conjunction with the Moussem of Moulay Idriss. Made at a gathering of the Confrerie of the Sous merchants of Fes in honor of Moulay Idriss. In the huge open inner courtyard of the S— family about 7 or 8 hundred people. 50 men in a circle, four with frame drums. A kettle drummer in the center and dance leader with frame drum in center.
