Note: al-Qaraouine is a historic mosque in Fes al-Bali, founded in 859 by an emigree from Tunisia named Fatima al-Fihri, which houses al-Qaraouine University, commonly considered to be the oldest continuously-operating degree-granting institution in the world. Its curriculum in medieval times encompassed religious jurisprudence and law (fiqh), astronomy, chemistry, medecine, grammar, rhetoric, and logic.

About the session: A varied series of recordings from the medieval walled city (Fes al-Bali) on the third day of the Moussem of Moulay Idriss. First, a group of coppersmiths practicing their trade, then the festivities of the Moussem with accompanying religious songs and celebratory music.
