Note: A.V. Sedov (b. 1898) from Tula Region, Central Russia. Singer is the "zapevala," the leader of the folk chorus. He is 66 years old. He learned these songs in the village. Doesn't name specific village – simply Tula province (south of Moscow). He doesn't know how to read music very well. He learned the songs from his family – grandfather and grandmother. When he was a child they sang these songs going to work, at work and coming from work. They also sing at folk gatherings (dances and songs), at weddings, holidays. They would sing at specific times – not the whole day.
