Description: Joe Pitre a Deux Femmes (Joe Pete Has Two Women), performed by Lawrence "Black" Ardoin, vocal and accordion, with his band, including Edward Poulard on fiddle, at the Crashpad in Eunice, Louisiana. Shot by Alan Lomax and crew in August 1983. As we say in our channel description, please keep in mind, as you watch the various camera repositionings and out of focus segments, that this is unedited raw footage; the intention was never for the performance to be seen in its entirety.

About the session: Cloggers and buck dancers; bluegrass and string bands; white gospel groups; stories, folktales, and ballads from coal miners, tobacco farmers, and former bootleggers, filmed in Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Performers include Ray Hicks, Nimrod Workman, Tommy Jarrell, and Raymond Fairchild, the man reputed to be the fastest banjo player in the world.
