Note: This is probably a working version of a number later issued as a 45 rpm called "Alan Lomax Sings" on Nixa Jazz Today Series NJE 1055, distributed by Pye Group Records, London, featuring Alan accompanied by the band Dave Lee's Bandits. (Also on the album are "Long Time Man," "Abilene," and "Brady.") Alan's song note on the album jacket reads: "This is my arrangement of a Texas dancing song (the sort that Lead Belly called a 'sukey-jump') tune that came to me from Moses Platt, a huge strapping 70-year-old cotton picker from Taylor, Texas. First printed in American Ballads and Folk Songs and copyright by Essex Music."
