Note: The Tariqa Aissaouia was founded in Meknes in the 15th Century by Muhammad bin 'Aissa, who was initiated into the Shadhiliya order of Sufism. An important ritual of the Aissaouia Brotherhood is 'Subhan ad-Daim' (Praise of the Eternal One) and their ceremonies include music and ecstatic trance ceremonies. In recent times, the musicians of the Tariqa Aissaouia have become increasingly professionalized. Original note: "3 big tamborines (riq), 6 oboes, 6 kettle drums."
