Note: Bessie tells a cautionary tale about a little girl whose mother neglected her in favor of her son. The mother didn't care for girls and wanted to concentrate on her son. She nagged and nagged at her daughter, who was a very good little girl. Soon after, the woman's son drowned. Alan tells a story about a man who found his son in bed with his wife. They both went for the gun and the son shot his father, and while his father was dying he asked for a cigarette and then told the police he had shot himself, so the son went free. Bessie Jones is shocked that a mother could mess up her son in that way -- by going to bed with him. That's awful bad.
