Note: Alan asks Tom what the church thought about singing and dancing in the old days, to which Tom responds: "Oh, hell it was! Hellfire!" He says he was brought up at a time when religion meant something – much more than it means today. He recalls going to Ted Ebley's theater shows while his father thought he was at chapel, and tells the story of getting caught lying about it. Setting: The Miner's Club
