Note: Words by Elizabeth Grant (1745-1814), collected by Robert Burns, who wrote in a letter (1793) that he had transcribed the words for "Roy's Wife" from "the lady who composed it." The tune was published as "Ruffian's Rant." in The Scots Musical Museum (1787-1802).
