Note: Jones says that according to the Book of Numbers it is not lawful for a man to marry his father's wife. A curse was put on Noah's sons whenthey saw their parents' nakedness. You are not supposed to marry your closest kin. Your mother and sister and uncle and cousins are not kin but rather are your [flesh and] blood. Your closest kin is your second cousin. When you marry, you are man and wife – you become like twins, and when you have children the children make you one flesh. This is what Jesus says. Kin is a more distant relationship in Bessie's terminology. Alan asks whether there is anything special about twins. Bessie Jones doesn't think so.
