Note: Swadesh discusses his work on Nootka. They speak in high range and end on a high tone. Complains that historical linguistics is now called "speculative." Psychological approach is killing off historical linguistics. He has linked certain vowel sounds with words denoting flatness and sharpness, but does not apply to more complex concepts like "cone-shaped," which have different aspects.
